The brief
A substantial table that still feels clean and simple.
This table was built from solid spotted gum for a family dining space. The design keeps the top as the main feature, with broad slab-style ends and a quiet, straightforward silhouette.
The base is tied together with an internal ladder frame, giving the wide top proper support while keeping the structure out of sight in normal use.
Materials and finish
Timber with the character left in it.
Spotted gum brings plenty of colour variation, figure and density. The top was finished in hardwax oil to protect the timber while keeping the feel and natural colour of the wood front and centre.

Built to last
Strong where it needs to be.
Large solid-timber tops move with the seasons, so the top is fixed in a way that allows it to do that without fighting the base. It is the sort of detail you do not see once the table is finished, but it matters for how it holds up over time.
